Dermal fillers are some of the most highly sought-after injectable treatments for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles, filling out contours of the face, and delivering an overall more youthful, vibrant appearance to the skin.
One of the dermal fillers available at SculpMD is Radiesse. It’s also available through our mobile med spa — our fully equipped van will come right to you to deliver treatment with dermal fillers.
Radiesse is the first and only CaHA dermal filler that is FDA-approved to be used in both the hands and the face. Minuscule microspheres with calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA) that produce collagen are set within an innovative gel, which comprises this popular temporary dermal filler.
With Radiesse, our patients can expect immediate improvements in the structure and volume of treated skin.
Radiesse is an effective injectable used to treat creases and moderate-to-deep wrinkles in the hands and face. It’s a popular treatment for volume loss and gives fuller, more supple skin in these areas. Areas of the hands and face that appear hollow and sunken can also be improved, providing patients with a more youthful appearance.
This dermal filler contains calcium and phosphate ions, which are naturally found within the human body. One of the best features of Radiesse is its ability to promote, encourage, and stimulate the body to produce new collagen and elastin in treated areas. Many other injectables only fill areas to create improved volume.
At first, the water-based Radiesse gel does all of the filling, but gradually, the calcium microspheres trigger the collagen-producing properties of the skin, and that collagen eventually takes over.
As your skin produces more of its own natural filler, the Radiesse gel, with its oxygen, hydrogen, and carbon, creates a “scaffold” for the collagen and elastin to integrate into the skin, resembling your body’s own connective tissue.
After several months, the calcium microspheres are absorbed and processed by the body, leaving collagen fibers in place.
Because of this advanced formula, results can and often do last for more than a year, and even up to two years for some patients.
Patients rely on SculpMD to treat a variety of areas with Radiesse. Whether you come into our office or we come to you with our mobile med spa, you can have many areas treated and enjoy long-lasting results.
Some of the most common areas that patients treat with dermal fillers like Radiesse are:
CaHA is the key ingredient in Radiesse that makes it so unique as an aesthetic treatment for the mid-face and hands. Most other dermal fillers are made with hyaluronic acid. Radiesse is the only CaHA treatment that gives immediate contouring results that look natural and are long-lasting.
Although Radiesse is most often used to create volume in the hands and face, in some cases, it can also be used to fill in deep scars. There is no ideal age recommendation for this treatment. While many of our Radiesse patients are 50 or older, we also have many who are in their late 30s and early 40s.
Most adults who have moderate to severe wrinkles or lines around their mouth, nose, chin, or hands are suitable candidates. Women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding should wait before receiving treatment.
Radiesse is appropriate for addressing moderate to severe age-related concerns. If you have milder concerns with your skin, there are many other dermal fillers that our office and our mobile med spa offer. To find out whether you’re a good candidate for Radiesse, schedule a consultation with our team at SculpMD.
Treatment appointments are quick and convenient; in fact, Radiesse treatments are known as “lunch hour appointments” because they take so little time to complete.
The average appointment can take 30-45 minutes, but each patient’s time will vary depending on the amount of dermal filler needed, the number of injections needed, and how many areas are being treated at one time.
Thanks to a topical numbing cream applied to the face before injections begin, it’s also a very relaxing treatment. Since this is not a surgical procedure and no heavy anesthetics are needed, you won’t have to arrange for recovery time. Patients usually go right back to their daily routines immediately following their appointments.
To prepare for your appointment, avoid chemical peels and laser treatments for two weeks before receiving Radiesse. Blood-thinning medications should not be taken before treatment, so if you are on prescription blood thinners, consult your doctor about whether you can safely temporarily discontinue use prior to the appointment.
If you have a fever blister, an eczema outbreak, or a cold sore within one week of your appointment, contact our team to reschedule your appointment.
At SculpMD, we always make sure our patients understand post-treatment instructions. We’re available to answer your questions and address any aftercare concerns you may have. At your appointment, we’ll instruct you on the best ways to care for your skin after treatment, including cleansing, wearing make-up, applying sunblock, and more.
